{"id":4316,"date":"2022-07-11T11:18:23","date_gmt":"2022-07-11T11:18:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bureauplan.ca\/how-to-create-a-more-productive-office-environment\/"},"modified":"2022-07-11T11:18:23","modified_gmt":"2022-07-11T11:18:23","slug":"how-to-create-a-more-productive-office-environment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bureauplan.ca\/en\/how-to-create-a-more-productive-office-environment\/","title":{"rendered":"How to create a more productive office environment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">If you&#8217;ve noticed recently that your office is struggling to be productive, it may be time to redesign and change the office culture.<br \/>\nAfter all, employees are more productive in an environment they enjoy working in.<br \/>\nBut what are the factors that create a more productive office environment?  <\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3148\" src=\"https:\/\/bureauplan.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/laura-davidson-QBAH4IldaZY-unsplash-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"productive office\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\"><\/h2>\n<h2 class=\"p1\">Change your office culture<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">There are many ways to create a productive office by changing the corporate culture, as many employers have the knee-jerk reaction to micromanage their employees and their time.<br \/>\nEven if they do this to ensure their employees are productive, it can have the opposite effect.<br \/>\nEmployees can&#8217;t be more effective in an environment that feels confining and burdensome.  <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\">Create a more hybrid workplace<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"> <\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\">By giving your employees the freedom to choose when and where they work, you ensure that they work during their most productive hours.<br \/>\nAs long as they complete their tasks on time, what&#8217;s the harm?<br \/>\nOne way to facilitate communication is to set certain hours when everyone is at work, and let employees choose the rest of their working hours.  <\/p>\n<p>  You might think that creating a more hybrid workplace is counter-productive to productivity levels, but in fact, hybrid workplaces ensure that your employees are satisfied with their working arrangements.<br \/>\nAnd <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newswire.ca\/fr\/news-releases\/les-employes-canadiens-veulent-un-lieu-de-travail-flexible-ou-ils-peuvent-travailler-n-importe-ou-selon-le-nouveau-rapport-d-accenture-874377129.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">studies show<\/a> that when employees are happy with their working conditions, they are more productive.   <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\">Avoid scheduling meetings that waste people&#8217;s time<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"> <\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\">Many employers, especially start-ups, schedule company-wide meetings that do nothing for some of their departments.<br \/>\nOften, these meetings could have been as simple as an e-mail.<br \/>\nThe people who attend feel they&#8217;re wasting their time, and feel bored and tired when the meeting&#8217;s over.<br \/>\nUnless you have an important strategy to discuss that would affect all your departments, avoid scheduling these meetings.   <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\">Encourage collaboration<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"> <\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\">A recent trend is moving away from clustered individual workstations, separated only by partitions, towards large, open spaces that encourage employees to communicate and work together.<br \/>\nAccording to an <a href=\"https:\/\/slack.com\/blog\/collaboration\/increase-productivity-by-30#:~:text=Today%20highly%20collaborative%20work%20environments,to%20evolve%20how%20we%20communicate.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article published by Slack<\/a>, &#8220;highly collaborative work environments are more likely to improve ROI and increase productivity, as they encourage employee engagement and promote shared goals.&#8221;<br \/>\nSo, instead of thinking your employees are &#8220;slacking off&#8221; by spending their days chatting amongst themselves, trust them to work collaboratively and watch your productivity levels soar.  <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\">Change your office design<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">Many people tend to think that <a href=\"https:\/\/bureauplan.ca\/reamenager-votre-espace-de-travail\/\">office design<\/a> doesn&#8217;t play an important role in a person&#8217;s psyche.<br \/>\nThey&#8217;re not wrong.<br \/>\nIn fact, the way an office is configured plays a huge role in your employees&#8217; mood and productivity levels.  <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\">Use natural light<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"> <\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\">Studies show that productivity levels increase when employees are exposed to natural light and nature.<br \/>\nDaylight can also help your employees sleep better at night.<br \/>\nIf they&#8217;re well rested, they&#8217;re more likely to be productive.<br \/>\nSo, if your office space has windows, the last thing you want to do is obscure them.<br \/>\nThis is especially true if your office windows overlook a lot of greenery.<br \/>\nIf there are no windows in your workspace, consider investing in ceiling lamps that mimic natural light and decorate the space with plants.     <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\">Modernize your office space<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"> <\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\">How can you expect your office to be productive if your employees have to deal with old, slow technology to get their work done?<br \/>\nHint: you can&#8217;t.<br \/>\nOne of the most important and beneficial things you can do for your office is to modernize the technology.<br \/>\nMore and more tasks are carried out using the Internet and applications.<br \/>\nSo, to guarantee productivity, get technology that can keep up with the speed at which your employees work.    <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\">Declutter<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"> <\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\">If your employees work in a cluttered space, they&#8217;re less likely to be productive.<br \/>\nStudies show that decluttering the work environment improves concentration and productivity.<br \/>\nYou may think that your brain can compartmentalize and focus on a specific task.<br \/>\nIn reality, every time you&#8217;re confronted with different objects or app notifications, these objects and notifications compete for attentional space.<br \/>\nThe more objects you have competing for space in your mind, the more distracted you are and the less productive you are.<br \/>\nThat is, <a href=\"https:\/\/cursus.edu\/fr\/10122\/creativite-ordre-ou-desordre-faut-il-choisir\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unless you&#8217;re doing creative work<\/a>.     <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\">Rearrange your space<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\">Office furniture plays a considerable role in employee productivity.<br \/>\nAfter all, workers who are in constant pain throughout the day are unlikely to think about their tasks.<br \/>\nAnd even if they do, their attention will be diverted throughout the day &#8211;
