Removing wires and clutter

Companies are beginning to choose to make their workspaces more adaptable to technological change.
This means companies are starting to use furniture and spaces that can accommodate new equipment.
Say goodbye to clutter as well as laptop and phone charger wires, and hello to under-desk organizers for clutter-free zones!

2. Flexible spaces

Office spaces are becoming increasingly flexible.
New trends therefore include spaces that can be used for multiple purposes, such as rooms that can be used either for meetings, a collaboration area, or even a breakout room.
This is particularly useful if the office space is smaller.
A flexible office space ensures that employees have areas in which to work for each task at hand.

3. Biophilic design

The idea of introducing natural elements into the workplace has gained momentum in recent years due to the increasing focus on urbanized spaces and the global presence of technology in our lives.
According to a study published by Interface, out of 7,500 people surveyed, 15% saw an improvement in well-being and 6% an increase in productivity, due to biophilic design.
Another 15% saw an increase in creativity.

4. On-site fitness centers

On-site fitness centers have also gained in popularity in recent years.
As health has become a major concern, some companies have chosen to offer their employees access to on-site fitness centers.
According to a study conducted by PubMed, this boosts productivity, improves employee morale, and helps employees manage stress effectively.

5. Innovative zones

Innovative zones are welcomed by millennials, whose numbers are increasing in the job market.
These innovative thinkers excel in environments that allow them to be creative.
Casual, innovative styles create stress-free open spaces where employees can relax and interact with each other, either amicably or professionally.

6. Co-working spaces

As more and more members of Generation Y enter the workforce, permanent workspaces are losing popularity because they don’t encourage social interaction, networking or teamwork.
Companies are starting to turn to a co-working environment where several employees share the same space.
It’s also a cost-effective way for companies to use their space.

7. Private workstations

Although co-working spaces are becoming increasingly popular, some workers may prefer to work in a more private environment.
This is particularly true for workers who are easily distracted.
Consequently, recent trends are focusing on open-plan spaces that also include semi-enclosed private workstations rather than completely divided ones.

8. Easy connection

More and more workplaces are changing the style of their office space to keep pace with technological change.
While all work is done on computers and tablets these days, companies have started to integrate technology into their office designs.
This includes easy-access outlets, USB ports in desks or near every chair, and interactive whiteboards.

9. Color details

Companies are starting to transform their dull, monotonous office spaces into dynamic environments that promote creativity.
They do this by adding color to their furniture and décor.
Not only does this help employees feel motivated and energized throughout the day, it’s also a great way to infuse a company’s brand and identity.

10. Ergonomic designs

Health has become a major concern for companies and employees alike, and just like on-site fitness centers, companies have decided to include ergonomic furniture in their office layouts.
Ergonomic furniture prevents pain and injury from sitting, and can even reduce the risk of heart disease.
They also boost energy and productivity, and reduce the risk of obesity and eye strain.
With all the benefits associated with ergonomic designs, it’s no surprise that companies are starting to provide their employees with sit/stand desks, adjustable monitor stands and ergonomic chairs!
